Aliyah in Numbers: Jewish Life, a Changing World and Finding Your Home in Israel
By Montefiore Real Estate Group | October 2026
For Jewish families around the world, the conversation about Israel has become increasingly personal.
Where do we want to raise our children? How close do we want to be to family? Could we spend more time in Israel, or eventually make it our permanent home?
At Montefiore Real Estate Group, Israel’s top luxury real estate agency, we believe these questions deserve thoughtful answers. Making Aliyah, buying a second home in Israel and planning a future move each involve different decisions. What connects them is the desire to create a meaningful, practical connection to life here.
Recent Aliyah statistics provide context. Behind every arrival is someone choosing a new chapter, and a household that needs somewhere to begin.
Aliyah Statistics: What the Latest Numbers Show
Figures released ahead of Rosh Hashanah 2026 by the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration and the Jewish Agency, reported by The Times of Israel, show approximately 20,000 new immigrants arrived between September 23, 2025 and September 3, 2026. The total was provisional and roughly 6% below the previous reporting period.
France: up 65% – 4,364 arrivals reported
United States: up 15% – 3,333 arrivals reported
United Kingdom: a 40-year high, 975 arrivals reported.
The same reporting identified more than 28,000 newly opened Aliyah files worldwide. These represent people beginning the process, rather than completed moves.
Taken together, the figures show increased immigration from several Western countries alongside lower overall arrivals. They do not establish how many newcomers will purchase property.
Jewish Life in a Changing World
The global context matters.
In the United States, ADL recorded 6,274 antisemitic incidents in 2025. Although that was a 33% decrease from 2024, it remained the third-highest annual total since its tracking began in 1979. In the United Kingdom, CST recorded 3,700 incidents in 2025, its second-highest annual total. These organisations use their own reporting methods, so their figures should be read separately rather than treated as a direct country comparison.
For some Jewish families, concerns about antisemitism form part of the discussion about where to live. For others, the strongest motivations are family, Jewish identity, professional opportunities or a longstanding wish to make Aliyah.
Israel also has its own security, political and economic challenges. A successful move requires a realistic understanding of daily life as well as a sense of belonging.
Our perspective at Montefiore is that families should have the space to plan carefully. Choosing a home should reflect their circumstances, priorities and budget.
From Thinking About Israel to Planning Life Here
A property search becomes more useful when it begins with the life you want to lead.
A family making Aliyah with school-age children may prioritise schools, nearby friends and an easy daily routine. A couple purchasing a second home in Israel may want a manageable apartment close to the beach, restaurants and family. Someone planning retirement may place greater importance on accessibility, healthcare and community.
Before comparing properties, consider:
These answers can narrow the search far more effectively than starting with photographs alone.
Where to Buy a Home in Israel
Montefiore Real Estate Group works across Tel Aviv, Herzliya, Jerusalem, and Caesarea, helping buyers compare different settings and property types.
Tel Aviv: Urban Life by the Mediterranean
For buyers considering an apartment in Tel Aviv, the neighborhood can be as important as the residence itself.
The Old North, the city center, Heart of the city – Lev-Ha-Ir, Neve Tzedek and the seafront offer different rhythms of daily life.
Walk the streets, understand the building and consider how the location will work throughout the year.
Herzliya: Family Living and Coastal Options
Buying property in Herzliya can mean choosing between a villa in Herzliya Pituach and an apartment in a neighborhood such as Glil Yam.
The right choice depends on your preference for private outdoor space, building amenities, maintenance responsibilities and proximity to your everyday destinations.
Jerusalem: Community and Connection
For buyers drawn to Jerusalem, the search often begins with community.
Proximity to a particular synagogue, relatives or familiar neighborhood may carry more weight than a larger apartment elsewhere. Visiting at different times of the week can help you understand whether an area suits your lifestyle.
For buyers searching for a villa in Caesarea, priorities may include a garden, pool, room for visiting family and space to entertain.
A viewing should also address the practical side of villa ownership: maintenance, transport and managing the home during periods abroad.
Should You Buy Before Making Aliyah?
Buying property in Israel before Aliyah can give a family time to prepare. Renting first can offer an opportunity to experience a neighborhood before committing.
The decision depends on your relocation timetable, financial circumstances and familiarity with the area. Residency status and purchase timing can also affect the legal, tax and financing questions that need to be reviewed with qualified advisers.
Montefiore combines that perspective with local real estate knowledge and international marketing connections. Our role is to help buyers translate their plans into a focused search, whether they are looking for a luxury apartment in Tel Aviv, a family home in Herzliya, a residence in Jerusalem or a villa in Caesarea.
Your Next Chapter in Israel
Aliyah statistics describe arrivals. Finding a home is about what happens next.
